Painting Eldar Falcon from Saim-Hann Craftworld

Today we’ll show you the step by step report of painting the Eldar Falcon model. I decided to paint with Saim Hann craftworld colours.

After preparing parts for painting I’ve undercoated them and grounded with Skull White primer. Then basic red paint was applied with the airbrush.

On the base colour I’ve added light orange highlights and very smooth shades with thinned dark brown. These layers of paint should be added very carefully. After paint dry, model was covered with semi gloss varnish to raise contrast.

The model colours seem too bright, but this will change when wash is applied. Black lines between armour plates give depth to the model and change its appearance. At the next picture you may see model with wash.

Games Workshop supply the model with transparent cockpit canopy. For the Saim Hann painting scheme coloured canopy looks better than standard. I tinted one canopy with a green transparent paint and gotpretty nice result. On the pictures you can compare look of both styles.

In my opinion green cockpit canopy looks much better than white, so I’ve tinted both pieces.

Next step was painting the black lines on the wings, as the Saim Hann painting scheme requires. I’ve cut the masking tape into the strips and put them onto the model. Then exposed areas were painted black and very smooth highlighted with the dark grey. Notice grey highlights on outer areas of wings.

After preparing few last details such weapons, spirit stones and antennas I’ve assembled the model. Building it was pretty nice. I liked Eldar Falcon model and definitely will back to it. Here are some pictures of completed model.
